Sun umbrellas with lockable manual drive
Large-size sun umbrellas are deployed in beer gardens, street cafes and other outdoor areas where shady seating areas are called for. In such cases, it is important to be able to open and close the umbrellas easily, quickly and safely.
Ketterer has developed a new system especially for these sun umbrellas, which matches the requirements exactly. A large-pitch, threaded spindle facilitates the quick opening of the umbrella, using a hand crank. An integrated locking unit holds the umbrella in the required position using a latching segment or, when unlocked, the umbrella can be closed effortlessly. The spindle drive from Ketterer guarantees simple movement and a long working life even under difficult conditions such as corrosion and wear.
This system perfectly combines the properties of a large-pitch threaded spindle with a simple locking system, resulting in exceptional user comfort.
A magnetic coupling is a coupling that transfers torque using a magnetic field rather than a physical mechanical connection. This allows a transmission of torque through air, media, or any flat solid non-ferrous vessel wall. The transfer occurs when the torque acts on one disk which is automatically transferred to the other disk over the gap between the driving and the driven parts.
